"Captain Kirk is climbing a mountain" explained

Recently, we all had a good chuckle at this clip, in which a William Shatner interview about Captain Kirk climbing a mountain was edited into a hilarious and annoyingly catchy little tune. Well, now a little digging has turned up the original Shatner interview, seen below.

Shatner comes across as a wee bit pompous (which admitedly is no great surprise,) but in context his remarks about Captain Kirk and the mountain make a lot more sense. He doesn't sound drunk or crazy, just, you know... Shatner-y.

And really, would you have him any other way?
