Happy 40th, MONTY PYTHON

40 years ago today, October 5th, 1969, the BBC aired the first episode of a surreal little sketch comedy program that was unlike anything before it. That program, Monty Python's Flying Circus, would go on to be one of the best things ever.

The show's first episode, Whither Canada?, was a bit uneven, as if the Python boys were still working out the kinks. But it did include this classic bit about the Funniest Joke In the World.
