David Lynch's promo for Ariana Delawari

Thursday, February 4, 2010

David Lynch has directed a new clip to promote The Lion of Panjshir, the debut album by Ariana Delawari that Lynch is releasing on his own label. The clip is a very Lynchian affair indeed, fascinating and tedious and creepy and lovely and funny and scary. That's Lynch narrating the clip himself, and he has this to say about Delawari:

"ARIANA WRITES GREAT SONGS – THEY ARE FILLED WITH FEELINGS AND THOUGHTS FROM HER LIFE – HER LIFE IN HOLLYWOOD AND LIFE IN AFGHANISTAN WHERE HER ROOTS ARE – ANCIENT AND MODERN FLOW TOGETHER HERE – THIS MIXTURE OF CULTURES AND HER MELODIES AND LYRICS CONJURE A GREAT UNIQUE FEELING IN PEOPLE – PEOPLE ARE SURPRISED AND EMOTIONALLY MOVED BY THIS MUSIC — ARIANA'S GOT SOMETHING TO SING ABOUT AND SHE DOES IT REAL WELL – IT'S A BEAUTIFUL DEBUT ALBUM SHE'S MADE."

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
