Whedon's DOLLHOUSE post-mortem

Friday, December 4, 2009

Joss Whedon's lengthy interview with the Chicago Tribune has been making the rounds online, but if you haven't read it yet, it's worth checking out.

Whedon reveals that he has absolutely no plans for Dollhouse after the upcoming series finale, no web series or comics or anything. He's openly crabby about how it all worked out, saying that Fox's insistence on backing off from the sexual aspects of the show to focus more on espionage really hobbled the series he wanted to make. I'd be curious to see Dollhouse as he intended it, but given that every woman I know who has watched the show absolutely despised the sex slave stuff we did see, I suspect this show was just doomed from the start.

Whedon also talks a bit about future projects, saying that he's interested in moving to cable TV but feels like he should focus on online projects because that's the way of the future. He also reveals that the Dr. Horrible sequel isn't quite as far along as we've all thought.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
