First FANTASTIC MR. FOX pic online

Friday, July 10, 2009

It seems like I've been hearing about The Fantastic Mr. Fox forever. It was announced sometime early in the new millennium, and is finally making its way to theaters this November. Based on a book by Roald Dahl (James and the Giant Peach,) the film is directed by indie vet Wes Anderson (Rushmore, etc.) and features the voices of George Clooney, Meryl Streep and Bill Murray. The story concerns a fox family beset by three nasty farmers.

Below you can see the first photo of the film's characters, courtesy JoBlo.com. Gotta say, I'm not too overwhelmed with these puppets. Maybe they look better in motion, but their basic design looks kind of funky to me. They make me think of taxidermied animals, and that's not an association Anderson was probably hoping for.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
