The Robot Commando is looking for you

Sunday, July 19, 2009

As the day breaks, a colossal silhouette rises above the city. A pale, purple automaton the size of an office building comes rumbling through the streets, with nothing but mass murder on its mechanical mind.

The military deploys a squad of tanks, but the Robot Commando easily destroys them all with a volley of missiles. Jet bombers soar overhead, preparing for an attack run. But the clear, plastic skull of the Robot Commando splits open, and it fires a missile at the jets. The shot connects with one of the planes, sending it spiraling down to crash in the streets below.

Who is responsible for this metal monster's reign of terror? Well, actually, you are.

"Ideal's Robot Commando is here to help you..." Sure, for now. But look deep into this creature's crazy, spinning eyes, and ask yourself how long it will be before the Robot Commando gets smart and decides it doesn't need some little meatbag hollering orders into its little controller microphone dealie.

How long will it be until... the Robot Commando is looking for you?

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
