Rumors of Tennant starring in HOBBIT debunked

Monday, July 20, 2009

Last week I called shenanigans on the UK's Daily Telegraph report that David Tennant was going to play Bilbo Baggins in the upcoming Hobbit pictures. Well, Peter Jackson has already debunked the story, telling Empire that the script for the first film isn't even finished yet and they're only beginning to think about casting.

"No, we won’t be announcing Bilbo for a little while," Jackson said when he was asked if the news will break at Comic-Con. "We’re starting to think about casting, but we’re knee-deep in the script right now. And when we do go to actors, they’re probably going to ask to see a script, so we’re powering ahead with getting the first draft done."

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
