Gaiman, Palmer and Nighy at work on STATUESQUE

Friday, September 11, 2009

The ubiquitous Neil Gaiman is at work directing Statuesque, a new short film starring Bill Nighy and Amanda Palmer (the Dresden Dolls singer who is also Gaiman's girlfriend). The film's story has been described as "a love triangle between two living statues and admirer who observes his object of affection every day among the Christmas shoppers, unaware that he too is being watched".

Gaiman's own rather hurried account of a shoot a few days ago on the streets of London can be found on his blog, and Palmer's own rather more detailed (and mildly NSFW) account can be found on her blog, including plenty of photos at least as weird as the one below.

So. If you've ever wondered if it's possible for Amanda Palmer to be unsexy, there you go.

Amanda Palmer has never been sexy... she is gross and untalented. She's also a Scientologist and so is Gaiman which is why their relationship seems to be some kind of performance. Ew.

Holy crap! Palmer must be a guy.

Neil Gaiman is Jewish. No idea what religion Amanda Palmer is - if she indeed has a religion - but the bras and other miscellaneous lingerie-like costumes she performs in leave no doubt as to whether she is a guy or not. Can't comment on the sexiness, since I'm not that way inclined, but if sexiness = exposed skin, she has sexiness in spades :3

I liked the film. Bill Nighy was cool. Amanda makes a splendid statue. And Mr. Gaiman is a skilled storyteller, whatever medium he works in.

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
