DOLLHOUSE: EPITAPH ONE clip online
Wednesday, July 8, 2009
A new clip is online from Epitaph One, the unaired Dollhouse season one finale. (Spoilers ahoy!) We already knew the episode was set in a post-apocalyptic 2019 and featured Dr. Horrible's Sing Along Blog's Felicia Day. But we did not know that it featured Amy Acker as Dr. Saunders, who appears to have been "wiped" back to her Doll state as Whiskey.
Joss Whedon was only able to secure Dollhouse's renewal by promising Fox he could continue the series after a large budget cut, and there's been some speculation that he'll do that by setting the entire second season in 2019. That sounds like it would be more expensive to me - after all, with the current format going outdoors is no big deal, but that would change if they needed a lot of post-apocalyptic special effects or sets. But a post-apocalyptic Dollhouse could be an interesting change. It was sort of fun watching Eliza Dushku play dress-up and go out on secret missions in season one, but the premise did feel like a strain and I wouldn't be heartbroken to see a big change in season two.
One question: is Amy Acker supposed to look 10 years older in this clip? Because she doesn't, at all. Maybe that's a budget thing (no money for makeup,) or maybe it's deliberate. The guy with the gun talks about "blowing her back to the Bush years," which makes me wonder if they've revived her from cryogenic sleep or something.
