Kevin Smith's Prince story

Thursday, July 9, 2009

Maybe you're not a big fan of Chasing Amy and Dogma director Kevin Smith. He's made a couple of pretty good movies, but he's definitely not for everybody. Maybe you're not a big fan of Prince. He's made a few classic albums, but he's a love him or hate him kind of genius. But even if you're not a big fan of either guy, trust me when I say that Kevin Smith's lengthy anecdote about his actual attempted collaboration with Prince is spellbinding stuff, almost as weird and hilarious as Charlie Murphy's "shirts vs. blouses" basketball game against Prince from Chapelle's Show. (Although in the end, Smith, unlike Murphy, didn't even get pancakes out of the deal.)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
