FANTASTIC FOUR reboot happening

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

The second Fantastic Four movie, Rise of the Silver Surfer, was released just two years ago... And now comes the news that Fox is already planning a franchise reboot!

I blame that Incredible Hulk movie for all this reboot insanity. That was the first reboot I can remember that came out when the movie it was rebooting (Ang Lee's Hulk) was still pretty new.

It seemed like an odd idea at the time, but it was but a glimpse of things to come. Now we're reaching the point where we're not even going to get to see movies all the way through. We'll get halfway through the first screening on opening day and then a bunch of studio execs will burst in. They'll yank the film out of the projector and start the show over with a brand new version of the movie we were just watching, featuring younger actors and bigger explosions. (Actually if that had happened during Rise of the Silver Surfer, I doubt too many people would've complained.)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
