DEADGIRL trailer

Thursday, July 2, 2009

It's kind of hard to imagine a premise less appealing than Deadgirl's. It's a movie about two teenage guys who discover a naked female corpse in the basement of a mental institution. One of the guys decides he wants to keep the corpse (I'll let you guess why.) His friend thinks the idea is disgusting, but goes along with it out of loyalty. But then they discover the dead girl isn't quite so dead as she seems... She's a zombie.

That's right, we're talking about two hours of zombie rape. It sounds like the most sleazy exploitation picture of all time, but Deadgirl has actually won awards at the 2008 Toronto Film Festival and the AFI Film Fest, and The Hollywood Reporter has called it "unsettling" and "audacious," while IndieWIRE's reviewer described it as "one of the smartest teen horrors I've seen in some time."

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
