More photos from Tim Burton's ALICE

Sunday, July 5, 2009

Comingsoon.net has posted a few photos from Vanity Fair's article about Tim Burton's upcoming version of Alice in Wonderland. Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter look like creepy escapees from Cirque du Soleil.

I caught an obvious and rather baffling error in the Vanity Fair article's very first page. They say this will be the first film based on Alice in Wonderland since the "bland" Disney version of 1951. Actually, Alice has been adapted for the screen quite a few times since then. Did it never occur to anybody at Vanity Fair to spend 30 seconds on Wikipedia before this issue went to press? (Also... The Disney version, bland? What kind of crazy caterpillar hookah have they been smoking?)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
