BUFFY movie not happening, Whedon says

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Well, poop. In disappointing if unsurprising news, Joss Whedon tells SCI FI Wire that the rumored Buffy movie isn't in the works after all.

"Not gonna happen," Whedon told the site, repeating the sentence for emphasis: "Not gonna happen. Until I gather the press and make a public announcement myself that it's going to happen, never believe anything."

We'll console ourselves with the fact that he said until he gathers the press and makes a public announcement, which almost makes it sound like he's planning something. As we said in a previous post, we're not enthused about a potential Dr. Horrible sequel because it feels like Doc's story is finished. But Buffy? We'll happily follow her and the Scooby gang all the way to the rest home. ("These vampires never get any older... But I sure do.")

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
