FILM CREW's entire series online

Saturday, April 18, 2009

In a rather surprising development, Shout! Factory has put all four movies from the Film Crew on Youtube, where you can watch them for free.

The Film Crew was a series of DVDs that Mike Nelson, Kevin Murphy and Bill Corbett did following the cancellation of Mystery Science Theater 3000. The trio once again offered their snarky commentary on cheesy old movies, only this time without the puppets. While the series wasn't quite up to the glory days of MST3K (you kinda missed the puppets) it was still really funny stuff and I was disappointed when they gave it up. They're now working together again on the Rifftrax Internet series, but that involves downloads and syncing tracks yourself, and frankly I miss the simple delight of just popping in a DVD and seeing these guys in action.

(An aside to Shout! Factory: Guys, if you're still trying to sell stuff on Amazon, don't give it away for free online.)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
