MUSIC FROM SPACE: Moby - SHOT IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD

Friday, April 17, 2009

Eminem's mortal enemy Moby has returned with a new album, Wait For Me, and the video for the album's debut single, Shot In the Back of the Head, is an animated short made by none other than David Lynch. (For our more sensitive or namby-pamby readers, don't be scared off by the video's title; the video isn't violent, and it's safe for work.) While Lynch's animated shorts aren't nearly as well known as his live-action movies, he's been making cartoons for a while and he attracted quite a cult following with his 2002 web series Dumbland. Dumbland was a rude, crude mess set in a kind of redneck hades, and Lynch did all the animating himself and even provided the voices. Shot In the Back of the Head is somewhat similar to Dumbland visually, although it's much more moody and melancholy.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
