DONNIE DARKO sequel viral video online

Monday, April 13, 2009

Offhand, we can't think of another film that demanded a sequel less than Donnie Darko did. But we're actually sort of curious about S. Darko, the upcoming direct-to-DVD sequel, precisely because it's so hard to imagine what a sequel would be like. Richard Kelly's 2001 cult hit didn't leave any story left to tell... And we can't help but wonder how another filmmaker would respond to a challenge like that. (Note that we're not saying we think the sequel will be any good. It will probably be lousy. But we're still curious.)

A viral video for the sequel is now online. It runs a bit long, but don't worry, it's not really just two minutes of kids playing kickball.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
