Clive Barker's OK

Wednesday, August 5, 2009

In the last Newschunks I posted a rather gossipy item conjecturing upon the health status of author/artist/director/etc. Clive Barker. Reader Mindy Lopkin wrote in to let me know that Barker had some vocal cord polyps removed, and while he's feeling much better it's not unlikely he'll always have some trouble with his voice. Apparently he's been quite public about it, but over the last few years I've checked out his site and his Wikipedia entry occasionally and I always missed any references to his health problems.

So, I'm glad to hear that Barker's not in any danger, and I hope my idle chatter didn't cause any offense. (See, this is why I'm crap at gossipy stuff.)

Got a tip for Monsters and Rockets? Want to contribute to the site? Send us an email.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
