Pee-Wee returns!

Today's secret word is... AWESOME! Aiiieee!

For years Paul Reubens has been talking about reviving his Pee-Wee Herman character in some form, and now it looks like it's finally happening. Pee-Wee got his start decades ago as the star of a bizarre, ironic kids show presented as a live theatrical event in Los Angeles, and later this year he will return to the stage.

The new production will feature Pee-wee regulars, including Miss Yvonne, Mailman Mike, Cowboy Curtis and Jambi the Genie. Audiences can also count on appearances by Pee-wee's talking chair, Chairry, and his friend Pterri, the pterodactyl.

The production is being billed as a "re-imagining," but here's hoping it's not too different from the original show... You can't improve on wacky perfection like that. The show is scheduled to have a short run this November at the Music Box in Hollywood.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
