The Kipper Kids on MONDO BEYONDO

Monday, August 31, 2009

Back in 1982, Bett Midler starred in Mondo Beyondo, a funny but absolutely bizarre cable TV special. She played Mondo, an Italian bombshell who introduced various up and coming, artsy performers of the day - including, in this sequence, the rather nightmarish performance art duo known as the Kipper Kids. Perhaps best known today for their appearance in the cult classic movie The Forbidden Zone, the Kipper Kids were sort of like characters from an old Popeye cartoon, and sort of like escaped mental patients. This clip is basically Bett Midler being menaced in a men's room by two insane cockney man-children making farting noises with their mouths. Enjoy!

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
