HALLOWEEN 2 ad campaign wins, yet fails

Friday, August 21, 2009

THE WIN: The ad monkeys who whipped up the Internet campaign for Rob Zombie's upcoming Halloween II (not to be confused with, you know, Halloween II) have come up with a genuinely brilliant idea. They have a bunch of flash ads that look just like those ubiquitous, cheesy, animated ads for auto insurance, online dating, etc. You see the usual video of the hot girl gabbing on the phone or the dancing couple... And then all of a sudden the series' villain Michael Myers lurches into the scene, and drags them away. Simply awesome. Those ad monkeys earned their bananas on this one!

THE FAIL: The ads don't seem to be embeddable, which is just ridiculous marketing fail. So, I'll have to send you to their website to see the darn things.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
