Rate My Corpse Paint

Thursday, August 13, 2009

There have probably been a few times, when you were wasting your long and lonesome evenings restlessly flipping the TV dial, when you caught glimpses of particularly screamy heavy metal music videos, featuring bands painted up with Kiss-style, scary mime faces. Well, the screamy heavy metal is actually called black metal, and the scary mime makeup is actually called corpse paint.

Black metal bands and their fans take pride in coming up with original designs, the more evil the better. But to become great at corpse paint, you gotta be able to take some constructive criticism from your satanic peers. At Rate My Corpse Paint, corpse painters offer each other tips, and celebrate the best and brightest (or, um, worst and darkest) in scary mime makeup. It's sort of like Hot or Not for angry loners.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
