Who shall you call, good sir? Why, none but the League of S.T.E.A.M., but of course!

A couple of months ago, Monsters and Rockets featured a sprawling post about all of the exotic folks to be seen at the yearly Labyrinth of Jareth masquerade ball in Los Angeles. We noted a group of steampunks wearing some sort of crazy clockwork backbacks, but there was so much to see there that we never paused to consider what these guys were supposed to be.

Well, it seems they were actually the League of S.T.E.A.M. (Supernatural and Troublesome Ectoplasmic Apparition Management), unofficially known as the Steampunk Ghostbusters. Look, they have their own website, and a few ghost girls who follow them around. I'm pretty sure we saw a couple of them, too.

Steampunk Ghostbusters. Sweet lord. I'm not sure if these guys are taking their fandom to some horrifying new extreme, if they've broken through to previously uncharted realms of nerd cool... Or both.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
