See old school DOCTOR WHO, for free

Wednesday, August 26, 2009

Doctor Who began its amazing run in 1963, and has been popular around the world ever since. But the show's been around for so long that there are now generations of fans who've never seen the original Doctor, William Hartnell. The BBC sells individual Doctor Who stories on DVD, but this is a show that was meant to be seen as a serial, one story bleeding into the next, and trying to do it the BBC's way could send you to the poorhouse.

So let's give thanks to Combom, a blogger who has posted all of the original Doctor's adventures online so you can view them for free, in all their imaginative, cheaply produced, black and white glory. I'm at a loss to explain why the BBC hasn't shut it down already - they really love to stomp on this sort of thing. So, enjoy this while it lasts.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
