DOLLHOUSE officially canceled

Wednesday, November 11, 2009

It's news that won't surprise anybody: Fox has announced that they are officially canceling Joss Whedon's Dollhouse.

The show was steadily improving (even as its ratings steadily declined), but I'm not exactly depressed about it getting the ax. The show's premise was just too problematic, it never totally gelled. The very best episodes of Dollhouse were like middling episodes of Whedon's earlier series.

I don't know when or if Whedon will have another TV show after this. I'd imagine he's getting pretty bitter towards network TV at this point, and network executives are probably a little hesitant to work with a guy with his track record. But this cancelation frees Whedon to work on other projects and something tells me we'll see another Whedon show eventually, one that really works. Here's hoping, anyhow.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
