Tim Burton exhibit coming to MOMA

Saturday, November 7, 2009

Beginning November 22nd, New York's Museum of Modern Art will unveil a retrospective exhibit honoring the work of Tim Burton. In addition to the expected film stills and props, there will also be plenty of Burton's original artwork.

Yes, this is the guy who gave us those pathetic remakes of Planet of the Apes and Willie Wonka, but he's also the artist who brought us classics like Edward Scissorhands and Nightmare Before Christmas. The Vulture website has a slideshow gallery featuring a bunch of rarely-seen Burton art, including early sketches of Mssrs. Scissorhands and Skellington, and some fine art paintings I'd never seen before. It'll remind you why you were such a fan of this guy in high school.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
