FANTASTIC MR. FOX character making-of

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Although Wes Anderson's Fantastic Mr. Fox adaptation hits theaters this Friday, I'm not seeing a lot of publicity for it. That's a shame, because the film looks really charming and it's getting some absolutely ecstatic reviews. (Salon.com describes it as "possibly the best movie about family, community and poultry thievery ever made.")

This short clip looks at the design and craftwork that went into creating Mr. Fox himself. This is one of those clips that will make you ooh and ahh over the movie's technical aspects, while simultaneously making it harder for you to get drawn into the story because you can't help seeing the characters as metal skeletons with rubber skin and a lot of yak hair glued on.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
