HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON

Monday, November 9, 2009

How to Train Your Dragon is an upcoming CGI comic adventure from the people who brought us the Shrek pictures. I've always been ambivalent about the Shrek series; I enjoyed the films up to a point, but the wiseguy tone and constant anachronisms got on my nerves. But something about How to Train Your Dragon looks promising. I don't get the feeling that it's going to hammer us with pop-culture references the way the Shrek movies do, and the boy-and-his-dragon parts of the story look genuinely sweet. (I like that the dragon apparently can't talk, and it has a really novel design that's appealing without being too cutesy. It looks sort of like a big, black, flying catfish.)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
