RIVERWORLD miniseries to star DOLLHOUSE'S Penikett

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

The suddenly ubiquitous Tahmoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse) has been signed to star in SyFy's upcoming, four-hour miniseries based on Philip Jose Farmer's acclaimed novel series, Riverworld.

The novels are set on an Earth-like world populated by young, healthy, resurrected versions of every person who ever died. Farmer brings together real people like Mark Twain and the explorer Richard Burton, and sets them on an epic to find out how they came to be in this strange place.

The miniseries is set to air in 2010. Interestingly, SyFy (back when it was simply the SCI FI Channel) aired a Riverworld miniseries just a few years ago, although it wasn't much of a hit with critics or audiences. There has been speculation that this new version is a set-up for a potential ongoing series. If true, there's no word on how it would affect Penikett's role on Joss Whedon's struggling Fox series, Dollhouse.
