'60s TREK candid shots

Monday, May 11, 2009

The Star Trek Prop Authority blog has posted five galleries of incredibly cool, candid shots of the original Star Trek cast on-set back in the '60s. (The fun starts here.) It's really striking how happy everybody looks. For a show with such a famously troubled production, it sure looks like there was a lot of clowning around. And there is just something so perfect about this shot of Shatner-as-Kirk striking a pimp daddy pose with a crazy '60s muscle car. (The color even matches his uniform!) The site offers an all-you-can-eat buffet of Trek nerd deliciousness, including this DIY guide to transforming your garage into the bridge of the original Enterprise.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
