BUFFY's Spike stars in cowboys vs. aliens cheapie

Wednesday, May 13, 2009

Sadly, things aren't going too well for James Marsters. He was so good as Spike the vampire on Buffy and Angel that it seemed like he had a very promising career ahead of him. But his role as the alien bad guy in Dragonball: Evolution was his most high-profile gig in a long while, and now he's starring in High Plains Invaders, a SyFy TV movie that the network has apparently decided not to air. (It's a bit confusing, but they say it will debut as a video-on-demand film June 1st, and there's no mention of a SyFy airdate.)

High Plains Invaders doesn't look like it's actually good, but at least it looks more interesting than the usual tired SyFy stuff. Cowboys vs. aliens is a fun, kind of novel idea. But Marsters just sounds delusional when he says this thing is "better" than Buffy. I guess that's what the poor guy had to tell himself in order to keep showing up for work. About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
