MUSIC FROM SPACE: Duran Duran - ELECTRIC BARBARELLA

Thursday, May 7, 2009

Distraught that you'll never get to see Robert Rodriguez's wall-to-wall-T&A remake of Barbarella? Well, perhaps you'll find some consolation in Duran Duran's video for their 1997 single, Electric Barbarella. It's just as sleazy, sexy, silly and awesome as anything Rodriguez could possibly dream up. Apparently the robot fetishists go absolutely insane for this thing, as you can imagine. (Click the image at left to buy Duran Duran's Greatest CD, featuring this song.)

Interesting fact: Duran Duran got their name from mis-hearing the name of Durand Durand, the villain in the original Barbarella. Not-so-interesting fact: All this "Embed disabled by request" stuff on Youtube is driving me freaking nuts. So, it's another Daily Motion clip for you today.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
