Hail THE CABONAUTS!

Sunday, June 14, 2009

Hilarious English comedian Hayden Black (who just happens to look a heck of a lot like the star of Monsters and Rockets Youtube favorite Abigail's Teen Diary) is currently shooting the first episode of Cabonauts, a sci-fi comedy musical web series.

It’s 2183 AD and humans have finally conquered the stars. But the inky blackness that separates the galaxies and the hundreds of thousands of human outposts and colonies is vast and needs a firm hand to navigate. Which is why Cabonauts Inc. is so handy—you can just call a cab.

Harry’s learning to get his hack license and Cyril is his instructor. They’ve been friends forever, but the crappy economy has forced them to work together. We follow them as they take their passengers (played by iconic sci-fi actors & actresses) around the galaxies.

In a post on the project's blog, Black explains that some of the guests slated to appear on the show will be familiar from such TV series as Star Trek: Voyager, Star Trek: Enterprise, Buffy, Doctor Who (the new series), Alien Nation and Stargate. Even if the premise didn't already sound like a big pile of fun, that cast makes it even more of a can't-miss proposition. (Just think of some of the actors from those shows who have musical backgrounds. Robert Picardo from Voyager, Anthony Stewart Head from Buffy, Billie Piper from Doctor Who...)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
