MUSIC FROM SPACE: Wild Beasts - BRAVE BULGING BUOYANT CLAIRVOYANTS

Thursday, June 11, 2009

You could do some serious drugs, then go for a ride on a roller coaster, and right in the middle of it you could have a friend whack you really hard on the forehead with a framed M.C. Escher print, all the while listening to a jangly, driving pop tune that sounds sort of like Sparks and sort of like the theme to some Swedish children's TV puppet show... Or you could just watch OneInThree's video for this Wild Beasts song, instead. It's like all that, and more. (Click the image at left to buy the Wild Beasts album Limbo, Panto.)

Before you watch the clip, be sure to read the Wikipedia entry on the Droste effect. At least that way you'll be a little prepared for what you're about to experience.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
