Idiot scientists revive ancient bacteria
Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Scientists have now revived an ancient microbe that was trapped two miles beneath the ice of Greenland for more than 120,000 years. They don't know yet if the bacteria was dormant the entire time, or if it's been slowly reproducing over the millennia. Apparently they just decided to dig up this unimaginably ancient life form, stick it in an incubator and see what the heck happened.
Mad science, indeed! Have these people never ever heard of The X-Files?
