STAR WARS meets the Muppets

Sunday, June 7, 2009

When Mark Hamill guest stared on The Muppet Show back in the 1970s, he brought along a few friends... Chewbacca, C3PO, R2D2 and Hamill's "cousin," Luke Skywalker. Even for the Muppets this was a very peculiar episode, culminating in the epic musical number you see below. C-3PO does a surprisingly graceful soft-shoe, Miss Piggy shows up sporting a Princess Leia double-bun hairdo, and then it all inexplicably turns into a visit to Disneyland... Dear lord, the '70s were a weird time.

I saw this clip on Youtube maybe a year ago, and by the time I sent the link to a friend the clip had been taken down. So, if you want to see this, I strongly suggest you get your click on right now. Start your Sunday off right, with dancing droids.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
