HEAVY METAL sequel rumors

Saturday, June 6, 2009

Film School Rejects quotes Kevin Eastman, co-creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and current publisher of Heavy Metal magazine, as saying that the long-rumored Heavy Metal sequel will feature some very big names. (Click the image at left to buy the Collector's Edition of the original Heavy Metal on DVD.)

"I’ve got breaking news that Fincher and James Cameron are going to be Co-Executive Producers on the film. Fincher will direct one. Cameron will direct one. Zack Snyder is going to direct one and Gore Verbinski is going to. Mark Osborne and Jack Black from Tenacious D are going to do a comedy segment for the film. Three other directors have agreed but we haven’t signed them, but they’re equally as jaw-dropping. So we’re on cloud nine to be working with such an amazing amount of talent."

Amazing indeed. Frankly, I'm treating this as a rumor until I hear something a little more official. I've been hearing about a Heavy Metal sequel for years, and nothing has materialized since the underwhelming Heavy Metal 2000, essentially an Eastman vanity project featuring B-listers like Billy Idol and Eastman's wife, Julie Strain.

Cameron is being massively funded and supported
by the most awesomely genocidal regime in human history ---across the Pacific. FACT!

70 million 'missing' people being systematically 'sidelined'. FACT!

Cameron is an ABSOLUTE traitor not only to art
and whatever real promise he might have had
---BUT to history and humanity as well.

---pass---IT ----ON!

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
