GHOSTBUSTERS GAME SITE NOW LIVE: You will not believe the awesome. Admittedly there's not a lot of actual content on the site as of yet, but the interface is cute as a bug's ear. Click on over there and you'll find yourself in a late 20th Century New York that's beset by spirits... Including the beloved mascot for a certain marhmallow company. (Click the image at left to buy the game.)

BARBARELLA
MOVIE BACK ON, BUT WILL PROBABLY KINDA SUCK:
The bad news? Robert Rodriguez is off the Barbarella remake. The good news? The remake is still happening. The (probably) bad news? It's now likely to be directed by Robert Luketic, the man who brought us Legally Blonde and Monster-in-Law.

VIRTUALITY
GETS ANOTHER CHANCE?:
When Fox scheduled Ron Moore's two-hour pilot for Virtuality for the night of July 4th, it was widely seen as a sign that Fox had no intention of turning the pilot into an actual series. After all, how many people were going to be home watching a sci-fi TV movie on Indepedence Day? But now word's come down that Fox has rescheduled the pilot to debut two weeks earlier, on June 26th. They've also been releasing press photos and doing other things to suggest they haven't totally given up on the show. The story follows the crew of Earth's first deep space vessel, a tense bunch who use elaborate virtual reality scenarios to escape the drudgery of their daily lives.

TOTAL RECALL
REMAKE SCREENWRITER NAMED:
The Total Recall remake announced earlier this year has taken another step forward, with Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium) hired to pen the screenplay. According to SCI FI Wire, the remake will be a "contemporized adaptation." But no matter how much they "contemporize" it, I'm willing to bet they'll still include the hooker with three boobs. (Image censored, but could still possibly get you fired if you're dumb enough to view it at work.)

MONSTERS AND ROCKETS AT E3? Will Monsters and Rockets be reporting from the massive E3 game developers conference in Los Angeles? Maybe. I have planted an operative withing the conference, and hopefully she'll report back later with some tasty game scoops.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
