Let's Paint TV
Saturday, August 1, 2009
When Los Angeles abruptly shut down its public access TV stations early this year, Southern California lost a lot of great (or at least fascinatingly weird) shows. And none of those shows were more addictive than Let's Paint TV, John Kilduff's one-of-a-kind art instruction program.
Other artists think they're really doing something by just standing there at a canvas and painting. But Kilduff makes them all look like lazy punks, painting while he simultaneously runs full-tilt on a treadmill, mixes fancy drinks, takes viewer calls live, and more. In the following short clip, he gets in some exercise while he shows you how to make your own enchanting little castle with cardboard and a hot glue gun.
Here he demonstrates how to exercise, paint a self-portrait and cut your own hair at that same time. This guy is an SCTV character come to life.
Ah, t'was a sad day indeed when LA's dumbass cable big-wigs purged all the public access programming from the airwaves. But Kilduff proved unstoppable (are you really surprised?) and wasted no time moving his show online. Let's Paint TV can now be seen daily at LetspaintTV.com.
