PUFNSTUF movie coming?

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Here I've finally made peace with the fact that the damn Land of the Lost movie isn't going away... And now word comes from Ain't It Cool that a movie version of H.R. Pufnstuf is in the works. Dear lord, by the time Hollywood's done with it, the sweet, trippy, goofy Pufnstuf of days gone by will have been transformed into a shambling, mirthless, catch-phrase spouting horror beyond imagination. Oh, it is to weep. (Click the image at left to buy The World of Sid & Marty Krofft - H.R. Pufnstuf.)

One little ray of hope: according to Wikipedia's Sid Krofft page, "He's continuously mentioned plans to bring H.R. Pufnstuf and Sigmund and the Sea Monsters to the big-screen, though to date, the latter two projects have continuously stalled out before production began." So, let's cross our fingers that the Kroffts are just once again hufn and pufn smoke, and we'll never have to see posters with Mike Myers in a big dragon suit.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
