The so-called "Quasi-Interesting" horror art of David W.

Tuesday, November 3, 2009

David W.'s Quasi-Interesting Paraphernalia Inc. blog is really underselling itself. It's more like the Cavalcade of Freaking Awesome!

David W. (no last name given) is an artist and a monster buff, and on his blog he offers up all sorts of classic monster souvenirs along with his original creations. On "Monster Monday" he'll post a monster drawing he did when he was a kid...

And the more slick, professional drawing he did of the same monster as an adult...

Call me crazy, but I kind of prefer the kid version! It has a nice, Tim Burton-ish scratchiness to it.

He also takes old concept drawings that Disney Imagineers did for the Haunted Mansion ride, and he animates them. It's a strange hobby, there's no denying that, but you also can't deny that the results are pretty spook-tacular. (Insert horrible Crypt Keeper-esque laugh here.)

There's much (much!) more on his blog. Check it out.

Thanks for the nice post about my blog.

It's funny "Cavalcade of Freaking Awesome" was my second choice for a blog name.

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
