Steampunk submarine home theater

Thursday, November 5, 2009

New Zealand businessman Wayne Eyre isn't the first person to turn his home theater into a Jules Verne-ian submarine. But Eyre added an interesting twist by making the sub beached, with larges patches of rust, wild vines climbing the walls, and ruptured "plutonium torpedoes" providing a lovely green glow.

(The original article makes a big point of this being the ultimate "guy" room, which strikes me as both sexist and silly. A lot of women would think this room is fantastic... And Eyre's own fiancee describes the room as "cool" in the article itself!)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
