MUSIC FROM SPACE: Death Cab for Cutie - CROOKED TEETH

Monday, May 4, 2009

The song itself is a pleasant trifle, but Rob Schrab's video for Death Cab for Cutie's Crooked Teeth is pure genius. Schrab uses puppets and other techniques, in a process he calls "drawless ainmation," to tell the heart-wrenching tale of a little cardboard robot. He has a making-of video that's a lot of fun, too.

Note that the record label has already pulled the Crooked Teeth video off of Youtube, so it's not unlikely it won't be availble for long here, either... Because the best way to promote your bands is apparently to yank their videos off the Internet and store them in a vault somewhere. (Click the image at left to buy the band's album Plans on Amazon.)

About This Blog

"Science fiction plucks from within us our deepest fears and hopes, then shows them to us in rough disguise: the monster and the rocket." - W.H. Auden

Who is he, this one who is called "Greg Stacy"?

Greg Stacy began the MONSTERS AND ROCKETS blog in April of 2009. Prior to that, he was editor of the popular sci-fi/horror news website DARKWOLDS.COM. He has also written for LA WEEKLY, OC WEEKLY, UTNE READER and LOS ANGELES CITYBEAT. He always feels weird writing about himself in the third person.
